District Spelling Bee at the Midlakes Middle School The District Spelling Bee was held on February 23 in the Middle School cafeteria and consisted of 29 competitive spellers ranging from grades 4 through 8. Our first place champion is eighth grader, Michael Barth. Second place was won by sixth grader Samantha Uptegrove. Third place winner and runner-up was won by Samantha Reed, a fifth grader. Our top two winners will travel on to the Regional Spelling Bee which will be held at Hobart/William Smith College in Geneva on March 20th, where they will compete against other area winners. We would like to extend a heart-filled congratulations to all our fine Midlakes spellers who made it to the second round and wish good luck to the winners as they move on to the Regional's.
