Super Spelling/Phonics Concepts

New phonics concepts are taught every Monday. Ten words that follow the concept will be assigned along with five high frequency words from the word wall each week. Spelling list should come home each Monday.

 Practice continues through the week in school and should continue at home as well.

 Tests are given every Friday. 

 

Week #1: (Sept. 12-16) cvc pattern words with short a, beginning blends 

Word Wall Words : bad, cat, back, dad, was

Pattern Words:  glad, flat, man, drag, slam, snap, plan, crab, grab, sat

 

Week #2:  (Sept. 19-23)cvc pattern words with short i, beginning blends 

Word Wall Words: sit, with, pick, this, that

Pattern Words: trip, twig, spin, crib, split, drip, twin, slid, knit, brim,

 

 Week #3:  (Sept. 26-30)    cvc, cvcc pattern words

                                              with short e,   ending blends

Word Wall: ten, let, get, end, when

Pattern Words: bed, wet, beg, hem, sled, step, blend, smell, spent, best

 

Week #4: (Oct. 3-7) cvc, cvcc pattern words

with short o, ending blends

Word Wall: got, you, are, last, fast
