Welcome back and thanks for visiting my website! Whether you're a student of mine or a parent looking to keep tabs on your son/daughter, you've come to the right place.

On the task bar to the left, you will find two very useful options:  "Homework Assignments", "Monthly Calendar".

"Homework Assignments" contains a list of the daily assignments for both of the courses I currently teach. Each list will be updated on a daily basis so if you ever miss class for any reason, you'll be able to look up what you missed.  This option also works well for those parents out there who like to keep track of their sons/daughters daily assignments.

"Monthly Calendar" is another great feature that will allow you to take a look at what's coming - whether it's a quiz, test, review sheet or whatever, you'll be able to see what's ahead and when its happening.

If you have any questions about anything you see on this site, please do not hesitate to contact me at mvanhorne@midlakes.org. Thanks for visiting - I hope it helps!

Mr.VH

Other pertinent information...

*At some point this year, most students will find the need to come in for extra help. I’m available nearly every day during the following times:

  • Before 1st period (7:00 – 7:30am) in my room
  • 2nd period
  • 5th period (5E)
  • 9th period
  • After 9th Period upon request (especially helpful for BOCES students)

Please don’t wait until you’re completely lost, come in for help now!

*My grading system is extremely simple:

  • 30% - Daily homework assignments
  • 70% - Tests, Quizzes, Review Sheets, Projects, etc.

Note:  If you’re planning on passing math this year, HOMEWORK IS A MUST!   sorry :)

*Last year marked the first year for our new REGENTS EXAM in Algebra 2 & Trig. This was the toughest mathematics exam we've seen from New York State in quite a while. Unfortunately many students did not do as well as we were hoping they would. Therefore our plan is to continuously review for it throughout the school year. Plan on lots of review all year long!!

*I am also the Chief Junior Class Advisor. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Class of 2012 (like fundraisers or the Prom), please e-mail me at mvanhorne@midlakes.org.
