The Book Fair Carnival may be over but the excitment continues this week!  We met our book fair goal with 256 books sold!  Which means Mr. Farr AND Ms. Hamel will be silly stringed on Friday, April 8th.

The 6th grade won the One for Books Jar Wars with $44.32 in loose change!  The 7th grade donated $23.70 and the 8th grade donated $8.50.  The grade with the most loose change donated will have the honor of silly stringing Mr. Farr and Ms. Hamel so congratulations 6th grade!

Many guessed but only one student won the 5 pound Hershey's chocolate bar.  There were 1,129 pieces of popcorn in the jar.  The student with the closest guess was Kaitlynn Gomez-Pedro with a guess of 1,123 pieces.  Congratulations Kaitlynn!

Congratulations to all of our Golden Ticket winners who won $5 worth of books at the book fair!

Thank you to the Library Club, Art Club, Mr. Farr and all of the students and staff that helped with the book fair!  Look for the book fair again in the fall of 2011!

It's Teen Tech week!  Celebrate all the ways that you use technology in school, @ home or in your world.  There are many ways you can connect to the world through the library or other tools.  One of the ways you connect to the world may be through Facebook or Myspace.  These social networking sites have gotten a bad reputation recently but these sites are important in your world.  Help adults in your life understand why these social networking sites are so important to you and learn how to remain safe at the same time by checking out ALA (American Library Association) guide to social networking

If you're interested in the other technology tools available check out a some of the things you can do this week on the ALA's website.

We did it!  We reached our  book fair goal with 201 books sold.  So do you know what that means?  Principal Farr has to shave his head!  Watch it on the Friday morning announcements and be sure to say, "Looking good Mr. Farr!" when you pass him in the hallway.

So Here's to Our Heroes! Thank you to Principal Farr and all the staff and students who helped us reach our goal.  Check out our book fair in the spring when we will again see what crazy thing Principal Farr will do for books!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
September 9, 2010:
The  Book Fair is coming next week!  Monday, Sept 13th-Friday, Sept 17th and during open house.  This fall's theme is: Here's to Our Heroes!  There are many different kinds of heroes.  The heroes in our life could be a solider, doctor, fireman, parent, friend or relative.  Your hero could even be a superhero like Superman or Batman & Robin, like Principal Farr and Mr. Giancursio :)  So as you come to the book fair think about those heroes in your life who've made a difference.
Our book fair goal this fall is 200 books.  We sold 184 books in the spring so this goal is well within our reach!  If we meet our goal Principal Farr has again agreed to sacrifice his hair for literacy.....by shaving his head!  Tell all your friends @ school to help us meet our goal and YOU can be the hero!
April 6, 2010:
During the week of the  Book Fair we sold over $2,000 dollars in books and other book fair merchandise!  However, with only 184 books sold we did not meet our book fair goal of 300 books.  But look for the book fair in the fall as we will again try to get Principal Farr to do something crazy for books!
I would like to thank the following staff and students for all their help with the Book Fair: Mrs. Borrelli, Mrs. Bement, Mr. Farrands, Ms. Lane, Ms. Fladd and the Art Club, Sara Belcher, Mary Harrington, Michael Jansen, Caitlyn Doyle, Marie Fischer and Mr. Farr for offering to dye his hair blue.
Thank you to all those involved in making our "Rock N' Read" book fair our most successful fair to date!
