Catching and Throwing Catching and Throwing
Our catching and throwing unit includes overhand and underhand throwing. Our students learn simple ways to remember the steps such as, tick tock like a clock, and point-step-throw. They also learned a rhyme to help with our catching skill- when the ball is up high, our palms face the sky, when the ball is down low, our pinkies are low.
Psychomotor: Students will be able to demonstrate the proper form for underhand and overhand throwing. Students will be able to demonstrate the proper form for catching balls at various heights. Cognitive: students will be able to explain the steps to overhand and underhand throwing. Students will be able to explain that they need to keep their eye on the target and step with their opposite foot. Students will be able to explain how to catch a high and low ball. Affective: Students will be able to work in groups or with partners and respect the equipment and rules.
Assessment: During this unit there is a skills rubric on the overhand throw and the underhand toss, as well as, questions and answers throughout the unit. Students will also be assessed through teacher observation and question and answer.
