I love to read
I love to read

Please check your child's agenda every night to see what he/she has for homework.

Below are the things you can expect to see from your child EVERY week:

Spelling - Students are asked to do one page of the "packet" each day (4 pages total).  Monday = sentences, Tuesday = syllables two times, Wednesday = boxes two times, and Thursday = alphabetical order two times.  What is not finished must be done for homework.  Students are also told that they should be studying a little bit each night for the test on Friday.  Spelling lists can be found on the home page.

Vocabulary - Students are given time every morning to complete their vocabulary work.  Each day they are given a new word (Monday-Thursday) that they need to attempt to figure out what it means using context clues.  They then are to look up the definition of the word, find the part of speech, synonyms, antonyms, and create a sentence using the word (that really explains the word).  There is a vocabulary test every other Friday.  On the test they are responsible for all word since the beginning of the year.

Reading - Students MUST turn in their Reading Response Journal ONCE each week.  Each child has a day that his/her journal is due.  On their due date, students must turn in a letter to me discussing the book they are currently reading.  In the front of the journal is an example letter and a letter that we wrote together as a class.  To see your child's due date or sentence ideas, click on "I love to read" on the side.  Then "Independent Reading Program."
