Midlakes' chapter of the National Honor Society held their annual induction ceremony, welcoming its 2026 inductees.

The ceremony included a candle-lighting welcome for a total of 29 students. Inductees were recognized for academic achievement, school and community service, leadership, and character during a ceremony in the Midlakes High School Auditorium.

Current Midlakes National Honor Society officers Blake Starkweather, Lauren Godkin and Lily Roth led the event and presented the newest inductees to the audience. Treasurer Eden Trzeciak was unable to attend.

The newly inducted members of the Class of 2026 were Maddison Clark, Cohen Egburtson, Corinne Hughes, Nathan Lathrop, and  Isabella Schutt. Junior class inductees included Jesse Bennett, Izabelle Bollinger, Nevaeh Bowen, Mattea Brodman, Sophey Carswell, Cecelia Clemons, Eleanor Dorr, Brooke Faust, Alessandra Gallagher, Jorge Garcia, Claire Givens, Anna-Lee Henderson, Natalie Hunter, Nicholas Hunter, Maeve Jankowski, Alexander Keebler, Nolan Klaehn, Emma LaBour, Alexis Murphy, Grayson Roeland, Madelynn Root, Olivia St. Pierre, Annabelle Trickey and Alilyona Westcottt.

Midlakes High School Principal Dan McAlpin, and Board of Education President Tracy Altman joined faculty advisors Kelly Hart and Erin Everson in welcoming and congratulating the newest inductees. 

Induction into the National Honor Society is one of the highest academic recognitions Midlakes bestows on its students. Juniors with a cumulative GPA of 88% or higher at the end of their second semester or seniors hitting that mark in their first quarter are eligible to apply.

Students are also recognized for their extra-curricular activities, volunteer service, and other leadership roles they may hold.

Midlakes National Honor Society also participates in several service activities throughout the academic year which includes planning the Midlakes Madness basketball game with Midlakes Athletic Leadership Organization - a fundraiser to benefit the United Way, raising funds during a "Service Day," collecting food donations, assisting with several school events, and much more.
