Getting Involved at Midlakes
Calling All Parents and Caregivers
The Midlakes Parent Teacher Organization supports the efforts of students, schools, and programs of the Phelp-Clifton Springs Central School District. Those interested in joining the organization or volunteering for fundraisers and other schoolwide events are welcome to join. The group meets on the second Tuesday of each month in Room No. 103 in the Midlakes Elementary School.
Community members are welcome to follow the organization on Twitter and Facebook. Email questions and comments to midlakespto@gmail.com.
Budding Readers
The Budding Readers program continues to serve area families by delivering new books to young children within the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District.
The program provides books to children up to 36 months old, readings tips for infants and young children, a parent guide, and age-appropriate reading materials to siblings ages seven and younger.
The Midlakes program was created in 2011 by Anne Wyjad and Linda Bolan, who continue to contribute. In 2017, Midlakes Intermediate School Principal Janice Driscoll took over leadership of the local program.
Budding Readers provides a new book for each child in the school district entering UPK, kindergarten, and Head Start. To participate in the program, or for more information, call (315) 521-1511 or email midlakes@buddingreaders.org.
Volunteering at Midlakes
By volunteering, you will have the opportunity to understand school programs and become involved in the total educational process of students in your community. Volunteers from the school district are often sought for career shadowing, professional partnerships and other opportunities.
