One-Room Schoolhouse

The former Coonsville School, or Manchester District No. 12, was brought to the Midlakes school campus thanks to a generous community-wide effort led by former Midlakes educator Joy Wilkes and Mary Lue Mueller, a former member of the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District Board of Education and Wayne-Finger BOCES Board of Education.
The two women were joined by the Phelps-Clifton Springs Board of Education, local businesses, carpentry students from the WFL BOCES and community volunteers to raise funds to renovate and relocate the small schoolhouse in time for a grand opening and dedication ceremony on May 18, 2010.
Today the schoolhouse is visited by groups from Midlakes schools, area community members and students and teachers from other school districts interested in learning more about long ago learning experiences.
Contact Sara Reynolds at (315) 210-0791 or sreynolds@midlakes.org, or Mareasa Severson at mseverson@midlakes.org to book a visit, volunteer or for additional information.
