School Board Elections

  • Qualifications

    • Residency in the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District for at least one year prior to the day of the election;
    • 18 years of age or older;
    • A citizen of the United States; and
    • Be able to read and write.

    A school board member does not have to be a taxpayer. Employees of a school district may not be a member of the Board of Education. No more than one member of a family may be a member of the same Board of Education in any school district. Individuals removed from any office of any school district within one year of the day of election may not be elected to the Board of Education.     Announcement Of Open Seats

    Voters will be asked to select three seats on the Board of Education this year. Two three-year terms on the Board of Education expire on July 1, 2022 and a third seat, to fill the remaining term of a vacancy, will also be on the ballot. Petitions may be obtained at the District Office.

    Twenty-five signatures of qualified voters are needed on the petition and must be filed with the District Clerk no later than 5 p.m. on April 18, 2022. Candidates should submit the following biographical release form by April 18, 2022. Information used from the form will be published in the Midlakes Journal and elsewhere.
