Midlakes 2023 Summer Driver's Education

  • There will be an information meeting on Thursday, May 18 at 2:15pm in the Middle School Gymnasium with Mr. Maher. Students will receive a registration form and a sample calendar. If a student can't attend this meeting due to schedule conflict, a registration form can be picked up during the school day from Mr. Maher in the Middle School Gymnasium.
    Qualifications: The program begins on Monday, July 10. All students must be 16 on or before July 6 and must have their learner's permit or driver's license on July 10. The course will last 17 days, with the final written examination to be given on Tuesday, Aug. 1. Students will also take a practice driving final/road test.
    Students are allowed only one absence the entire course. Absences MUST be made up before the end of the course or no certificate will be issued. Students are required by NY State DMV to complete 24 hours of classroom instruction and 24 hours of lab instruction (actual in-car experience) to complete the course.  Students must pass BOTH the lecture & in-car portions of the class to be issued their certificate of completion (MV-285 FORM). No academic credits will be given for this course.
    Registration fee for this course is $150. Please make checks payable to Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District and, starting May 22 students may register with Mrs. Adams in the High School Main office. Students will fill out a registration card and MUST have their learner’s permit or license with them when they submit their registration. Mrs. Adams will make a photocopy of your permit/license to ensure proper spelling, etc. on government documents.
    There is a limit of 16 spots available for the course. However, if a large number of students are interested, there may be a second session added in August (need a minimum of 8, maximum of 16 students for this to happen).
