Midlakes 2021 Summer Driver's Education

  • The New York State DMV has allowed us to offer a portion of the "usual" driver's education program at Midlakes High School during the summer of 2021. Instructor Jeff Maher is able to offer 24 hours of classroom instruction, but due to COVID restrictions the 24 hours of in-car driving lessons must be administered by parents/guardian/licensed adult. Students and parents will be given a record sheet with suggested lessons to practice with their child over the course of several weeks. Upon completion of the classroom course with Mr. Maher and submission of the 24 hours of driving lessons signed off by the parent/guardian, a course completion certificate (MV-278) can be issues to allowing a student to apply for their road test and potential insurance reductions (depending on your insurance carrier).

Minimum Course Requirements: 16 years old with learners permit or junior license.

Location: Midlakes High School (specific classroom TBD) NO ZOOM CLASS will be offered.

Attendance: Due to minimum time requirements required by NYS DMV, students may only miss one (1) classroom session time, but this MUST be made up with the instructor before the end of their course session. Check your personal summer schedules & see which session offering works best for you. If you miss more than one class and do NOT make it up, you will be dropped from the course and will NOT receive your certificate.
