Superintendent's Message: May 6 Update on COVID-19

Today, May 6, 2021, the Ontario County Department of Health notified us that a Midlakes Middle/High School student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student has been learning remotely and has not been on campus.  Per privacy guidelines, no additional identifying information can be shared.

While the student who tested positive is in isolation as directed by the Department of Health, all other students and staff will continue in-person instruction as regularly scheduled for their grade levels.

Please continue to follow our health and safety protocols: stay home from school when feeling ill; practice social distancing; wear a face covering; wash your hands; and avoid large and unnecessary social gatherings.  Please consult with one of our school nurses, prior to sending your child to school, if you have any concern regarding symptoms or reason to suspect an exposure to a positive case. By working together and taking extra precautions, we can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 at school.

We will continue to work closely with the Department of Health, monitor suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19, and communicate with families and staff in a timely manner.  Decisions regarding in-person instruction will be based on our ability to manage positive cases, maintain appropriate staffing, and provide a safe environment for students and staff.

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Matt Sickles, Superintendent
