Superintendent's Message: Grades 5-12 to Resume In-person Instruction

I am pleased to announce that grades 5-12 will return to in-person instruction in the hybrid model beginning on Tuesday, Jan 19. This includes students in grades 10 and 11, who were originally scheduled to begin the hybrid model on January 11.

The District has been monitoring our staffing capacity throughout the week and we now expect to have the staffing necessary to resume the hybrid model in its entirety. Please note that we will continue to respond to any positive cases identified by the Department of Health and make decisions accordingly. If any additional changes to the hybrid model become necessary, we will communicate to families and staff with as much notice as possible. For now, we are excited to resume the hybrid model on January 19.

Thank you for your patience during this particularly challenging stretch since school resumed on January 4. Please continue to follow our health and safety protocols. The actions of our students, staff, and families help limit the secondary exposure associated with positive cases. In addition to wearing face coverings, observing social distancing, practicing good hand hygiene, and completing the daily health screening, we especially appreciate students and staff staying home when feeling ill.

Please consult with one of our school nurses, prior to sending your child to school, if you have any concern regarding symptoms or reason to suspect an exposure to a positive case. By working together and taking extra precautions, we can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 at school and avoid any further disruptions to our hybrid model of instruction.

As always, the successful continuation of our hybrid model will depend upon our ability to manage positive cases, maintain appropriate staffing, and provide a safe environment for students and staff.

Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Matthew Sickles,
Superintendent
