Boys Swimmers Set School Pool Records

The Midlakes boys swim team broke three team records during the Class B Section V Championships held on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the Webster Aquatic Center.

"The boys all swam great with amazing drops," said Jack Hauber, head coach. "Each and every one of them had an important part in the meet; individually and as a relay. I could not be more proud of the team." 

Midlakes’ eight sectional qualifiers dropped more than 1 minute and 20 seconds off of their seed times during the meet. The following are the full results for the Screaming Eagles:

  • Andrew Schoenfelder was accepted to the New York State team after finishing third with a time of 22.10 in the 50-yard freestyle. The mark improved upon the pool record he set last year,
  • From a flat start in the 400-yard freestyle relay, Schoenfelder (49.39) broke the 100-yard freestyle record set by Greg Marks (50.62) in 2009.
  • Schoenfelder, Robert Burnham, Evan Raes and Ethan Brodman broke Midlakes 400-yard freestyle relay record (3.35.46, seventh place). They took eighth place in 200-yard freestyle relay (1.37.44).
  • The 200-yard medley relay of Jackson Laird, Jeffrey Wondensheck, Ethan Ruggles and Caiden Pappert took 11th  place with a time of (2:13.19)
  • Burnham finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.75).
  • Burnham (2:00.74), Raes (2:01.90), Brodman (2:04.08), Wodenscheck (2:11.77) competed in the 200-yard freestyle.
  • Brodman (1:05.19) swam in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • Raes (55:01) and Laird (58.23) swam with Schoenfelder in the 100-yard freestyle.
  • Pappert (6:05.40) and Ruggles (6:09.65) competed in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Laird (1:07.15) and Wodenscheck (1:09.26) swam in the 100-yard backstroke race.
  • Schoenfelder finished ninth in the 100-yard freestyle (52.55).
