Several student-athletes from Midlakes brought home sectional ribbons and a few top finishes during the 2021 Section V Indoor Track and Field Championships held on March 7 at the Pinnacle Athletic Complex in Victor.
The girls team saw Alandra Jones in the shot put (37-feet 9-inches) and Cara Walker in the high jump (five feet) both finish in second place. Kianna Naval tied for fourth in the high jump with a height of 4-feet six-inches.
Katelyn Wilkes finished third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:37.24. She took fourth place in the girls 3,000-meter run (11:58.38). Kate Mahoney finished fifth in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:42.12.
Mary Givens, Catherine Peacock, Kate Mahoney, and Camryn Ford finished fifth in the girls 3,200-meter relay with a time of 12:03.35. They also finished sixth in the girls 1,600-meter relay with a time of 5:17.52.
Meanwhile, the girls 800-meter relay team of Alandra Jones, Stella DelPapa, Kianna Naval, and Adrianna Bezzek finished sixth with a time of 2:06.57.
Also, Alandra Jones and Jacob DeWilde established a new school record in the shot put during the 2020-2021 season for their respective teams.
