Midlakes National Elementary Honor Society exceeded its own goal by raising nearly $7,400 for the Geneva Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, on June 1.

The students also served up their signature purple lemonade, took orders for a concession stand delivery service, and filled hundreds of luminary bags with canned food items later donated to a local food pantry.

Students performed these duties with pride and spirit while winning various contests, which included Jonah and Pippa in the "Wild West" Spirit lap, Azrielle and Lorelai in the balloon toss, and Riley winning 12 Taco Bell tacos to share with her teammates.

The amount raised by the students was one of the highest totals raised by any group at the Relay for Life this year.
