Yearbook Specifications For Senior Portraits

MIDLAKES REFLECTIONS: 2019-2020 SENIOR YEARBOOK PORTRAIT SPECIFICATIONS

The Midlakes High School yearbook staff seeks to ensure that they will receive photographs of high quality with consistent size, lighting, paper surface, and color balance. The staff's objective is to ensure that all seniors receive equal representation in the senior portrait section of the yearbook.

  1. The portrait must be a professionally produced color portrait 1.75 inches in width by 2.0 inches in height.
  2. The picture should be a head and shoulders pose. The head size should be 1.25 inches from the top of the head to the bottom of the chin, and the pose should be facing directly forward.
  3. The photographer should send the picture(s) in JPG format on a CD or DVD to: Attention: Mrs. Simmons, Midlakes High School, State Route 488, Clifton Springs, NY, 14432, or they may also be saved as a JPG sent via email to asimmons@midlakes.org.
  4. Pictures taken with a cell phone or tablet are not acceptable (they do not reproduce well).
  5. The final deadline for submitting yearbook portraits is October 30, 2019.
  6. The background must be a plain light color.
  7. Please observe the following restrictions:
    • Front view only – NO OVER THE SHOULDER
    • NO HANDS, NO ARMS, NO HATS
    • NO PROPS OF ANY SORT INCLUDING ANIMALS
    • NO CHAIRS, LADDERS, OR FANS
    • Proper dress – The school dress code must be observed.
    • Sharp, clear prints – No soft or defused prints.
    • Outdoor pictures are allowed but should be a light color background, and follow all of the above criteria.
  8. Any digital images must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (525 w x 600 h) and the color mode or space must be RGB. Soft proof the image on your system with the sRGB ICC profile, and write the file to disk in .jpg format with the sRGB profile embedded.
  9. Midlakes Reflections Yearbook reserves the right to reject any photo it considers inappropriate, offensive, violates the school dress code or does not comply with the above criteria.
