The Women of Lockerbie opens on Thursday, Oct. 31 for several shows by Midlakes Theatre Experience.

The year is 1995 as a grief-stricken mother from New Jersey searches for her son’s remains in the hills of Lockerbie, Scotland following the tragic crash of Pan Am 103.

She meets other women who are fighting the U.S. government to obtain the clothing of the victims found in the plane’s wreckage. The women, determined to convert an act of hatred into an act of love, want to wash the clothes of the dead and return them to the victim’s families.

The Women of Lockerbie by Deborah Brevoort and directed by Keith E. Childs is inspired by a true story although the characters and situations in the play are fictional.

Midlakes Theatre Experience stages the Brevoort’s dramatic play on the triumph of love over hate at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, Friday, Nov. 1, Saturday, Nov. 2, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3 in Midlakes High School Black Box Theatre.
