Senior Portrait Requirements for Yearbook

The Midlakes Reflections Yearbook staff has already begun planning the 2020-2021 yearbook and wants the senior class to carry on a Midlakes tradition by providing high-quality photos adhering to the following guidelines.

The guidelines are designed to ensure that all seniors receive equal representation in the senior portrait section of the yearbook as well as consistent space, lighting, paper surface and color balance.

  1. All portraits must be a professionally produced color portrait of 1.75 inches in width by 2 inches in height. (Students may choose the use of their school ID photo).
  2. The picture should be a head-and-shoulder pose. The head size should be 1.25 inches from the top of the head to the bottom of the chin. The pose should be facing directly forward.
  3. The background must be a plain, light color.
  4. Seniors should have their photographer send the picture(s) in JPG format on a CD or DVD to: Attn: Angela Simmons, Midlakes High School, Route 488, Clifton Springs, NY 14432. A JPG may be emailed to
  5. Photos taken with a cell phone, tablet or downloaded from such websites as Facebook are not acceptable. (They do no reproduce well.)
  6. The deadline for submitting a yearbook portrait is October 30, 2020.

The yearbook staff asks to observe the following restrictions:

  • Front view only – NO OVER THE SHOULDER
  • Proper dress – The school dress code must be observed.
  • Sharp, clear prints – No soft or defused prints.
  • Outdoor pictures are allowed but should be a light color background and follow all of the above criteria.

All digital images must be a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (525w x 600h) and the color mode or space must be RGB. Soft proof the image on your system with the sRGB ICC profile, and write the file to disk in .jpg format with the sRGB profile embedded.

The yearbook staff eserves the right to reject any photo it considers inappropriate, offensive, violates the school dress code, or does not comply with the above criteria.
