Changes Made to District Calendar

The Phelps-Clifton Springs Board of Education approved an amended District calendar moving the start of the upcoming academic year for students to Monday, Sept. 14 to provide additional time to prepare for the safe opening of school under a modified hybrid learning model that includes both in-person and remote instruction.

»Updated: District Calendar

The new start date will help the District better implement a variety of health and safety protocols, which includes reconfiguring classrooms to meet social distancing requirements, deep cleaning and disinfecting of campus spaces and busesfinalizing procedures for student drop-off and pick-up as well as in-classroom meals, and much more.

Additional days immediately following Labor Day (Sept. 8-11) will be used to provide additional professional development for staff on new procedures relating to Midlakes’ Reopening Plan.

On Sept. 14, the District will bring students in UPK through third grade, along with some English Language Learners and special education students back to campus first under the hybrid model. All other grade levels will begin the academic year under full remote instruction.

Students attending the Finger Lakes Career and Technical Center will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The District will transport students, where needed.

Other changes to the calendar, include:

  • Moving elementary school parent-teacher conferences to December 6-8 and March 16-18 and making them virtual.
  • Making December 23 an instructional day
  • Making March 12 an instructional day
