MAY 26, 2022 — Several Midlakes High School students were inducted into the local chapter of the National Honor Society during a ceremony recognizing outstanding academic achievement, school and service to school and the local community, leadership, and character.
Overall, twenty-nine students – five seniors and 24 juniors – were recognized in front of family and friends during the May 24 ceremony. They join a group of 13 students recognized during a special fall ceremony.
Students inducted into the local chapter during the May 24 ceremony included seniors Shelby Ballet, Holden Dorr, Sky Liu, Jotneil Mulero, and Grace Payne. The following juniors were also inducted: Samantha Baker, Ethan Bond, Cassie Cook, Nauvoo Door, Camryn Ford, Mary Givens, Hanna Godkin, Olivia Hannux, David Jankowski, Jackson Laird, Nathan Laird, Kate Mahoney, Peter Mueller, Grace Murphy, Kayla Nurse, Catherine Peacock, Kendall Ridley, Zach Rozelle, Emma Ubink, Callie Walker, Amelia Wilkes, Katelynn Wilkes, and Hannah White.
Throughout the year, NHS members conduct numerous volunteer and community-focused events. They helped organize a food drive for local food pantries, rang the bell for the Salvation Army, helped the Clifton Springs Library during its book sale, and are planning other volunteer activities at Midlakes Elementary School.
Juniors with a cumulative GPA of 88% or higher at the end of their second semester are eligible to apply. Faculty advisers are Kelly Hart and Erin Everson.
"Mrs. Everson and I can’t say enough about the generosity of our seniors and their commitment to school and our community," Mrs. Hart said during the ceremony.
