Superintendent's Message: Important Update on School Incident
MAY 27, 2022 — This afternoon, just prior to dismissal, the Elementary School administration was made aware that one or more students had made a list of individuals to harm. Thanks to the prompt attention and action of a staff member, this list was quickly brought to the attention of Principal Moyer, and the students responsible were identified and brought to the office where Deputy Holland was called in to investigate.
While I am not able to share additional details related to a student discipline matter, the police have fully investigated the situation and determined that no plan or resources existed to act upon the list. Still, this is unacceptable behavior that will be handled according to our Code of Conduct.
While no one was in immediate danger, this is a disturbing incident, and we appreciate everyone who responded quickly to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community. We will continue to work together to keep everyone safe, and our counselors are always available to support students who are upset by this or any other situation.
Recent events remind us of the realities of the world we live in and the importance of diligently working together to keep everyone safe. Just as we appreciate those who noticed and reported this incident, we encourage everyone to notify school personnel immediately if they notice anything that could be dangerous. We also encourage parents and guardians to speak to their children about the seriousness of threatening to harm other people.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep our students and school community safe.
