JUNE 10, 2022 — On behalf of the Board of Education and the entire Midlakes school community, I want to thank Superintendent Matt Sickles for nearly five years of tireless dedication and service to our District during one of the most challenging times in public education. Mr. Sickles announced on June 9 that he accepted the Superintendent position at the Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District.
Despite the challenges of COVID-19, Mr. Sickles worked endlessly to navigate the District through the establishment of a Strategic Plan, our Capital Improvement Project, several fiscally responsible budgets, and led us in the development of a comprehensive plan that wisely leverages state and federal funding to bolster social-emotional supports while working to close learning gaps caused by the pandemic.
He has been laser-focused on the health and safety of students and staff and has been a driving force in our community in both big and small ways. His departure is a tremendous loss for our school community, and he will be greatly missed.
While Mr. Sickles will remain with the District for much of the summer, the Board of Education has already begun working with our partners, including Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES, to launch an extensive search for a new Superintendent and provide leadership to the District while that process is carried out.
The Board of Education is confident that we will find a talented leader representing our values who will continue to make student success a priority while working with all our stakeholder groups.
Again, we thank Mr. Sickles for his service and wish him well in his new endeavor. I want our entire Midlakes school family to know that we will do everything we can to keep you informed of the search for our next Superintendent and our plans to provide consistency in leadership while selecting the best possible candidate to serve the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District for years to come.
