District Names New Director of Special Programs

JUNE 22, 2022 — Midlakes schools has hired Andrea Eldridge as its next Director of Special Programs to replace Tammy Wood, who has retired after a lengthy and distinguished career with the Phelps-Clifton Springs Central School District.

Eldridge, a Midlakes parent who worked the last 13 years at the Waterloo Central School District, was approved by the Board of Education after a rigorous interview process that included 15 members of the Midlakes school community representing a broad range of stakeholders.

"I am very excited to join the Midlakes Family," she said. "I am a current member of the Midlakes Community. My children attend Midlakes, and I have been impressed with the opportunities available to our youth and the support given to educate the whole child."

Eldridge brings a combined 14 years of experience to Midlakes as a special education teacher, mentor, CSE/CPSE chairperson, and administrative intern. She holds state professional certificates in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6)  and Special Education (Grades 1-6), a state certificate of Internship as a School Building Leader, and a state Certificate of Internship as a School District Leader.

“Throughout the hiring process, Andrea demonstrated a strong commitment and background in instructional leadership and a clear vision of student-centered education,” said Superintendent Matt Sickles. “She has a proven record of developing strong and productive relationships, using data to inform decisions, and fostering a commitment to continuous improvement."

Eldridge started at Midlakes on June 1 and worked with Wood to ensure a smooth transition.

"I am eager to build relationships with students, staff, and families so that I can support students throughout their educational careers," Eldridge said. "I look forward to getting to know everyone in the coming weeks and months."
