National Junior Society Launches Shoe Drive

AUG. 31, 2023 – Midlakes National Junior Honor Society is holding a shoe drive fundraiser from September to November to raise funds to support community service projects and pay annual dues.

NJHS will earn funds from Funds2Orgs based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used, and new shoes collected to benefit future NJHS projects. Anyone can help by donating gently worn used and new shoes at Midlakes High School.

Donated shoes will be redistributed and sold through Funds2Orgs’ network of small businesses located in developing countries with limited economic opportunities.

"We are excited about our shoe drive," said Jocelyn McConnon, one of NJHS's advisors. "We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us. By doing so, we raise money for future community service projects, and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It's a win-win for everyone."

Midlakes National Junior Honor Society began two years ago with middle school students of strong academic achievement, and commitment to community service. The students welcomed into the chapter are role models and leaders in various student organizations and at school.

Donations will be collected near the Main Office at Midlakes Middle/High School. Contact Jocelyn McConnon or Denise Kelly for more information at jmcconnon@midlakes.org or dkelly@midlakes.org
